THE PRACTICES

Shamanic Journey - Winter Solstice Ritual: During our Winter Solstice Ritual, we will immerse ourselves into a meditative drumming journey, guided by Eirini’s drum and voice. The intention set for this ritual is to guide everyone into a connection with deep rest, inner healing, and profound quietude, in alignment with the energies of winter, inviting us to be still and turn inwards, as a preparation for the more active spring months ahead. We will journey to embrace the tranquillity of the season, allowing ourselves to let go and surrender to the nurturing and restoring energy of the solstice. It will be a moment to recharge, find profound love within, and make plans for the more vibrant months to follow. A drumming journey can induce a very deep meditative state (called “trance”), which can awaken higher feelings of connection with the divine source, our inner wisdom and creativity, and invite inner peace and balance into our life.

Kirtan (Mantra Singing): Kirtan is the practice of chanting mantras (in Sanskrit, English & other languages) in a group with live music. The word mantra means “a tool for the mind”, a meditative way to harness the (hyper-)active mind through the repetition of sacred sounds and invocations. With kirtan, we cultivate devotion to something higher than ourselves and connect to unconditional love, bliss and pure joy, as we open the heart space through sacred vibrations and voice activation. By bringing our voices together, we expand our hearts and experience a connection to ourselves, to others & beyond. Kirtan and mantra singing are part of Bhakti Yoga, the yoga (way) of Devotion.

WHAT WE WILL DO:

We will start with a welcome circle, followed by a shamanic drumming journey and ritual, in honour of the Winter Solstice, during which we will be guided by the rhythm of the drum into a deep meditative state that will connect us with inner peace and profound tranquillity.

After the ritual, we will do a small sharing of our experiences in the circle. We will then gather to sing mantras and celebrate the joy of being alive and the sacredness of community!

We will end our gathering with a shared potluck dinner to honour Earth’s abundance and connect around delicious food and drinks.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION:

❄️The event is open to everyone, regardless of age, gender or previous experience in shamanic rituals or mantra singing. Everyone is welcome!

❄️Please bring something small to eat for the shared potluck dinner! 🍲🍀

❄️Please wear comfortable clothes that allow movement. We will be sitting on mats/cushions on the floor and moving our bodies.

❄️Please be/arrive on time, in order not to interrupt the practices. 🙏🏻

❄️The event will be held in English. French explanations can be provided if needed.

ABOUT US

Alexandra Cacavas: Alexandra is an astrologer, esoteric facilitator and musician, with a formal background in modern languages. Her purpose is to bring people together through mantra singing circles, astrology workshops and other spiritual practices. She also gives 1:1 astrology readings for personal and spiritual development. With roots from England and Greece, Alexandra is based in Brussels.

Eirini Kapsidou: Eirini was initiated in Siberian Shamanism 25 years ago when she came in contact with a Shaman in Siberia, whom she followed for 10 years after, and she has been practicing Shamanic Journeying since. She is Greek, based in Brussels, where she is giving workshops on personal development and creativity, as well as organizing shamanic drum meditations and other ceremonies, in various places and the forest. She also gives personal sessions of drumming, coaching and energy healing. She believes in the transformative and deeply healing power of drumming, liberating the voice and entering the "trance" state.
