Full Moon in Cancer, 17-18 January 2022

The full Moon, also called Wolf Moon, at 27 degrees of Cancer brings intense emotional waves with the potential for great healing and transformation.

The Moon is the ruler of Cancer, the cardinal water sign of home, family, ancestors, lineage, roots, origins, history, memory, patriotism, nationalism, tribe, protection, nurture, intuition, fertility, childhood, the mother and the womb of creation. As full Moons are culmination points of energy that are expressed outwardly, the Moon in her home sign is expected to bring strong emotions to the surface, especially around the themes mentioned above.

With the Sun opposite the Moon, the Cancer-Capricorn axis and their polarising themes are highlighted. We might be revaluating our place in the world and the legacy that we are leaving behind; we might be aiming to bring back balance between our private and our professional life, as well as revisiting what the concepts of “family” and “home” mean on a personal level.

The Sun is conjunct Pluto in Capricorn, making this full Moon a very auspicious time for emotional cleansing, healing and transformation, especially of ancestral, family, childhood and femininity wounds.

During this full Moon, I strongly invite you to take personal time to “mother” yourselves, by nourishing yourselves on a soul level, by crying as a way to release and cleanse (if you feel the need to), and by honouring the beautiful being that you are in the intimate space of your inner and outer sanctuary. If you are a woman, connecting with your menstrual cycle and taking care of your womb will prove to be very beneficial at this time. If you live near the sea, a lake or a river, you may find it very soothing and healing to be in the presence of water these days.

What do you need right now? What needs to come to the surface and be healed? What or whom do you need to forgive and release? On this full Moon, let go of what is expected of you from the outside world and concentrate on your needs first. Be careful, however, not to overindulge (in food, for instance) as a way to fill emotional voids.

Allow the waves of emotions to flow through you, acknowledging that they are surfacing to be released, making you lighter and freer as a result. Connect to the wisdom of the Moon, the Sky Mother and Silver Goddess, who teaches us that to live life is to learn to navigate the tides.
