Full Moon in Cancer, 29-30 December 2020

The last full Moon of 2020 is taking place at 8°53’ of Cancer. The Moon is in the sign of its rulership, which makes it a powerful lunation. It forms a favourable sextile to Uranus, bringing relationships of every kind to the forefront.

The Moon is in Cancer, its home sign, representing home, family, roots, origins, the mother, the womb, emotions, intimacy, security, nurture, care and vulnerability. Emotions around those themes are heightened during this full Moon, as Cancer is one of the most emotional signs of the zodiac. Full Moons often bring climaxes, conclusions or endings, so conflicts with the mother or family members might worsen or come to a head, we might receive news regarding a new home or be inspired to move to a new place, we might resolve emotional or relationship issues, etc.

The Moon is opposite the Sun, shining a light on the Cancer-Capricorn axis. We might feel torn or conflicted between home and work life, family and career, privacy and public life, retreat and perseverance… This full Moon also brings closure to the themes prompted by the solar eclipse in Cancer on 21 June, thus closing the loop that was opened six months ago.

The Moon forms a sextile to Uranus in Taurus and the Sun forms a trine to Uranus. These are favourable aspects for embracing change regarding home, family, relationships and career. It is a good time for mending relationship issues, for meeting new people, for chance encounters, for finding personal and emotional freedom and for working with intuition. These aspects are likely to bring the necessary changes for us to become more aligned and in tune with ourselves, our purpose and our heart’s desire. The Moon shows us which relationships are no longer serving us and which are worth fighting for, while Uranus helps us make space for the people who are meant to be in our lives. Both incite us to redefine the meaning and concept of family by looking beyond blood relations.

Venus in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces, however, might impede on these favourable aspects by bringing about feelings of self-doubt, a negative self-image and a confused sense of personal value. Questions such as “Am I worthy?” might arise, and Uranus is here to remind us that YES, we are. This square can also lead to overspending, laziness, daydreaming and lethargy.

Last, but not least, Mars in Aries forms his final square to Pluto in Capricorn. The last of a series of three that greatly influenced the year 2020, this square puts the urge to rebel against the status quo into perspective. It teaches us that violence and thoughtless action only ends up hurting the individual. It is useless to keep clashing against authority to break free from restrictions if we do not feel free inside of ourselves first. Pluto teaches us that what is meant to last shall keep standing, while what is meant to fall shall be destroyed. Did we learn our lesson?

What is meant for you will come when you are ready to receive it.

🌕 Happy Full Moon 🌕
