Full Moon in Pisces, 1-2 September 2020

Alexandra Cacavas

As the season begins to change, the fiery, revelling Leo summer is now over, and it is time to get to work. Virgo season is about preparing, harvesting, stocking, adapting and anticipating the coming winter.

The full Moon in Pisces, also called “Harvest Moon”, allows us to take a break from every-day life and asks us to direct our focus inwards. She takes us to the winter realms for a few nights, by reminding us of that quiet, introspective, darker and slower time of the year.

As the Moon feels at home in Water signs, emotional bursts, disclosure and endings are to be expected. Pisces being the sign of spirituality, we may experience spiritual insights, revelations and tests of faith. The Moon shines a strong light on our spiritual life, beliefs and practice, making this a good time to let go of habits that no longer serve us.

The Moon opposite the Sun in Virgo can bring conflict between our spiritual and mundane life. The aim is to find a balance between the two, by incorporating the spiritual into the mundane and vice versa. When this way of life is fully integrated, it leads us to the great act of giving and being of service to others without asking for anything in return.

Neptune, ruler of Pisces, is in its home sign and retrograde. As the Moon joins with Neptune, this is a good time for cultivating, practising, engaging and indulging in reveries, music and visual arts. In other words, anything that stirs the emotions and brings us closer to the ethereal aspects of life.

Mars in his home sign of Aries is at the apex of a cardinal T-square with Venus in Cancer and Saturn-Pluto in Capricorn. The Capricorn gang make Venus feel vulnerable. This manifests as tensions, conflict, and crisis between the desire for nurture and security, societal expectations and the heavy burdens of worldly matters. It also highlights the age-old conflict between private and public life. Mars, the only planet currently in a fire sign, adds even more tension by acting out against both authority and family. These difficult energies can be channelled into productivity and action, with Mars providing us with a boost in motivation and drive, as the Warrior never backs down from a challenge. Mars also teaches us that it is time to take matters into our own hands by trusting ourselves and uncovering our leadership qualities.

On this full Moon in Pisces, may you dive deep into the cosmic sea and find the love that binds all life into one consciousness. May the small fire that is left from the summer give you enough fuel to push forward one last time before the dark season settles in. Use the light of the illuminated Moon to dive deep into your depths, as She guides you through the darkness. Surrender to the Cosmos as the Moon’s cycle has reached its peak, and trust that your dreams will come true.

Happy Harvest Moon!
