Do you feel the fires of passion reviving inside of you after being dormant throughout the winter? Do you feel the need to move, dance, laugh, lead and take action?
The Moon is in Aries and this is the first lunar cycle of the new (astrological) year. New moons are blank canvases were we are called to set intentions and plant the seeds we wish to reap at the end of the month. It is a quiet and magical time, where doors are wide open and infinite possibilities present themselves to us. Since this is the first lunar cycle of the new year, this is a wonderful time to make resolutions. What would you like to change in your life? What do you need to let go of? What would you like to accomplish this year?
The new Moon in Aries asks us to take time to ourselves and focus on our desires, passions and goals. It is not about taking action right away, but rather planning ahead, thinking about how we are going to get where we want to be. The New Moon in Aries is also a good time for taking care of the body, by favouring movement through exercising, dancing, acting or playing. Aries represents the individual and, thus, identity. What makes you unique? What do you like about yourself? Embrace your identity, be proud of your quirks, feed your inner child and let go of behaviour patterns that no longer serve you. Aries being the sign of leadership and courage, this new Moon also asks us to take the initiative and find out where in our lives we need to apply more courage. This could be speaking your mind if you have been shy, trying new foods or starting a new hobby.
Mars, ruler of Aries, is currently grounded in earthy Capricorn. He is exalted in Capricorn, acting as a motivation to get things done, providing quality work and going forward with plans in a structured way. Mars in Capricorn proceeds in a calculated way, instead of thoughtlessly charging head first, as he would in Aries.
The new Moon is in conjunction with Chiron, the wounded healer. The Moon represents emotions, so expect emotional wounds to come to the surface during this lunar cycle. It is up to us to decide whether we are ready to heal them or continue to suppress them, thus repeating the cycle of suffering and allowing those wounds to manifest as psychosomatic symptoms. Fire burns the flesh, but it also cleanses the wound. Fire teaches us that we must go through pain to heal.
The world is currently experiencing a lot of emotional and physical pain due to the corona pandemic. Chiron teaches us that there is a medicine for every wound and that the healing power resides within us. The key to activate this healing power is to delve deep into ourselves, in order to bring these issues to light. Patience is also essential at this time. The Moon reminds us that there is always hope, even when all the lights have gone out. Since this is a new Moon, now is the best time for introspection, deep meditation sessions and working with the shadow self, in order to recover the light that is within and to make peace with whatever has been troubling us.
Fire and Earth are the predominant elements to work with during this time. Favoured gemstones are red jasper for regeneration and initiative, carnelian for bravery and confidence, and jade for balancing mind, body and soul.
May the light fill your heart and may the fire cleanse and heal your wounds.
Until next time,
Alexandra
