Full Moon in Aquarius, 22 August 2021

The second full Moon in Aquarius this year, at the last degree of the Water Bearer, brings an Aquarian flavour once more to the collective and into our individual lives, a reminder of the great changes that are happening on our planet during these pivotal times.

Aquarius is the catalyst for the changes happening in our societies, while its ruler Uranus, who is grounded in Taurus, acts as a catalyst for the environmental and financial changes happening on the planet. The wheel was set into motion with the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius on 21 December 2020, opening a new grand cycle in the Air signs and symbolically ushering in the new Age of Aquarius.

The full Moon is conjunct Jupiter in Aquarius. Emotions and reactions may trigger outbursts or get out of control, as Jupiter expands everything it touches. Opposite the Moon, the Sun in Leo wants to be acknowledged and praised one last time before it enters Virgo, which can create emotional conflict if we have not yet found our place in the world or if we have not been accepted for who we are and for the gifts that we are here to offer. However, thanks to benevolent Jupiter, enduring emotional issues may finally be expressed, resolved and released.

Mercury conjunct Mars in Virgo are opposite Neptune in Pisces. With Mercury in its home sign, our minds are more analytical and focused, our speech is structured, our thinking patterns are clear and organised. Mars provides us with the courage to speak our minds, to dare question the illusion of Neptune and to take action on matters of daily work, routine, health and habits. This full Moon is a good time to review important decisions, release outdated habits and come up with new healthy goals.

Venus has entered her home sign of Libra and is trine to Saturn in Aquarius. We turn our eyes to the future, as we long to create a better world, to establish new humanitarian principles, to bring balance to our polarised societies and to build strong foundations to secure the well-being of future generations. There is also a collective desire for peace, harmony and justice at this time. On a personal level, there can be a desire to establish and cultivate serious, long-term and long-lasting relationships of every kind.

In mundane astrology, the Moon represents the people, while the Sun signifies the government. Leo being the sign of Royalty and Aquarius the sign of Humanity, this full Moon brings tension and conflict between the masses and authority. As the Moon is feminine, women may be speaking up and protesting against feminist and patriarchal issues, either on the streets or on social media.

The Leo-Aquarius axis is strongly emphasised this year. It teaches us how to lead from the heart, how to become our own authority and how to balance our desires with the needs of others. When we step into our power, letting the light in our hearts shine, we join with the people that share the same vision as we do.

The on-going square between Saturn and Uranus, both rulers of Aquarius, is strong during this full Moon. As more people awaken and as chaos becomes the new normal, the time has come to embrace the current global changes. It is time to accept the ending of the old order (Saturn) and to welcome the new world that is being birthed from the ruins (Uranus).

The King is dead, long live the People.
